چکیده
BACKGROUND Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related death among women. In this paper, we studied the variations in the trends of Chinese female breast cancer mortality by age, period and cohort from 1990 to 2009. METHODS The mortality data were collected from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. An age-period-cohort model and Intrinsic Estimator were used to estimate the age effect, period effect and cohort effect on the Chinese adult female breast cancer mortality risk. RESULTS The age effect on Chinese female breast cancer mortality initially increased, but then declined, and showed a reversed "J" shape with age. The period effect of breast cancer mortality continued to rise with the time period and increased by 59% from 1990-1994 to 2005-2009. The cohort effect showed that the mortality risk of Chinese females born after 1911 was on the decline and decreased by 2.2336 from 1911 to 1989. The change rate of the cohort effect on breast cancer mortality fluctuated regularly. Three accelerating decreases and three decelerating decreases were noted in the variation law of the change rate. CONCLUSION The results of study show the increasing mortality trend of breast cancer in Chinese female from 1990 to 2009, and the breast cancer mortality risk decreased with birth cohort.

PURPOSE Despite the low mortality rate of breast cancer among women in Korea, the breast cancer mortality rate has increased. The aim of this study was to examine trends in breast cancer mortality from 1983 to 2012 in Korea, assessing the importance of age, period, and birth cohort as risk factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS Data on the annual number of deaths due to female breast cancer and on fe...
متن کاملComparison of Secular Trends in Cervical Cancer Mortality in China and the United States: An Age-Period-Cohort Analysis
Background: As one of the most common cancers in the female population, cervical cancer has ranked as the second most incident gynecological cancer in recent years, trailing only breast cancer. We aimed to assess and compare the secular trends in cervical cancer mortality in China and the United States and analyze the independent effects of chronological age, time period and birth cohort using ...

= Abstract =In Korea, leading causes of death have dramatically changed from infectious diseases to chronic degenerative illnesses, including malignant neoplasms since 1960. However, little is known about the long-term trends of female malignancies in Korea. This study was conducted to find epidemiological evidence of changes in mortality and morbidity of uterine cervix, female breast, and ovar...
متن کاملPredicting the change in breast cancer deaths in Spain by 2019: a Bayesian approach.
BACKGROUND Breast cancer mortality rates have been decreasing in Spain since 1992. Recent changes in demography, breast cancer therapy, and early detection of breast cancer may change this trend. METHODS Using breast cancer mortality data from years 1990 to 2009, we sought to predict the changes in the burden of breast cancer mortality during the years 2005-2019 through a Bayesian age-period-...
